Portrait of Anoara Mughal

Founder – Anoara Mughal FCCT NPQH

I passionate about closing the disadvantage gap and I am the author of Think! Metacognition-powered Primary Teaching. I am an educational consultant with over 17 years’ experience in teaching and leadership across several primary schools and an all-through school. As part of my initial degree course, I studied a module of neurology and became fascinated with how the brain works. However, when I qualified as a teacher, my interest in the uses of cognitive psychology in teaching grew, which led me to write the book.

In this constantly changing world, I believe that it is important to develop that inner voice which not only is the ultimate tool to overcome any challenges we may face but it also helps us to achieve our full potential.

I am a founding fellow of The Chartered College of Teaching and I wrote an article called Metacognition: books, resources and teaching tips to help students know themselves as learners published online in January 2018. I have published several online articles including for the TES, The Chartered College of Teaching, Learnus UK, The Foundation Stage Forum ( Tapestry Online), RISE Edumag, Headteacher Update. I have also recorded a number of interviews/podcasts for Tapestry, Tiny Voice Talks and Net Support. In addition to this, I have spoken at various conferences including WomenEd, Metacognition Conference (organised by Sec Ed, Headteacher Update, and MA Education), Teaching and Learning Leeds Conference (The Grammar School at Leeds),

I thrive on collaborative diagnosing, analysing and strategizing in order to continually improve schools in every area, with a focus on impact in the classroom. This is why I am currently working on projects implementing metacognition in the classroom, as well as developing materials and resources for parents and for the world of business. I’m looking forward to meeting you and/or your school and finding out how we can work together to achieve great things.
